I’ve thought long and hard over the last few weeks about the future of Mrs Mitchells, to be honest, I’ve hardly thought about anything else.

As lockdown eases you’d think that challenges to small businesses would also be easing, but that has not been the case for me.

For many reasons, including rising costs, supplier issues, and peoples understandable desire to visit cafes and restaurants, times are really challenging, and have been for some time.

I just can’t carry on the way things are. I’ve considered all the options, but I just have to admit defeat and accept that it’s no longer right for me to keep on fighting. So, I’ve taken the heart-breaking decision to wind up the business.

So, what does that mean?

Well, I have orders in the diary and a larder packed full of yummy ingredients to use up, so I’ll be here for a few weeks yet.

It does however mean that this might be your last chance to have a Mrs Mitchells afternoon tea delivery, so please book it while you still can – diary is currently open until September 12th. If you bought a voucher since the beginning of March, which hasn’t been used yet, then please use it now too.

Big thanks go to Lily who’s been on the team from the start, she is going back to college next month, so I also wish her the best of luck as she goes on to do fabulous new things.

I would finally like to say a very big thank you to everyone that has supported my little business, it has been my absolute pleasure to bake for you all over the past two and a bit years, and I’m just gutted we’ll not be here for you in the future.

So there it is. Please, please, do continue to order, we’re still making awesome afternoon teas. Plus, I have a full larder to use up, so it would be great to go out with a bang!

Thanks, Caroline
